The new branch in Southampton will be managed by Justin Evans who has over 20 years’ experience in the technology market and is looking forward to showcasing the innovation, customer service excellence and level of expertise Direct-tec is renowned for. The expansion follows the acquisition of Select Business Equipment who provide a range of Sharp office products, which will now fall under the Direct-tec portfolio. Managing Director John Maryan said: “We are thrilled about the opening of our new office and look forward to the opportunities that await us in Southampton. We have many existing clients in the area whose needs will be better serviced by the opening of a new and accessible office on their doorstep.” www.direct-tec.co.uk A fresh take on remote collaboration Kaptivo is working with Nuvias to make its whiteboard collaborative solution available throughout the EMEA enterprise market. The Kaptivo whiteboard collaboration system lets customers digitise their existing, dry-erase whiteboard and live-share it with remote users. It leverages the familiarity of the traditional whiteboard, requires no special pens or equipment and works with a single button press. The Kaptivo solution integrates easily into conferencing systems, including BlueJeans, Dolby, Polycom and Lifesize, already key parts of the Nuvias UC vendor portfolio. This enables Nuvias to offer bundled, easy-to-deploy business solutions to channel partners across EMEA. Nuvias will support channel partners with additional services, including the integration of the kit into pre-packaged conferencing solutions. www.nuvias.com Apogee sponsors renowned event Apogee was a sponsor and exhibitor at the Real Estate and Property Technology Summit which took place November 12 and 13 at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club, Hertfordshire. The event provides the opportunity to connect with companies from the Real Estate and Property Technology sector. Overall, the Summit aims to integrate innovators and technology leaders to become a part of developing strategies for the technological revolution. www.apogeecorp.com Dell Technologies team conquers Kilimanjaro A 31-strong team from Dell Technologies climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for charity partner, Action for Children. The IT professionals conquered the 19,000- feet summit after four days’ hard slog. Their efforts were rewarded on return to the UK where they smashed their fundraising target, collecting £105,000 to help the charity in its work supporting disadvantaged children across the UK. The company has raised nearly £2 million for Action for Children over the past eight years. www.delltechnologies.com Midshire continues fundraising for BHF Midshire has been supporting the British Heart Foundation since the beginning of this year when the charity delivered CPR training programmes to staff. Staff recently took to static spin bikes for a ‘Midshire on Tour’ coast-to-coast-and-back cycle raising a total of £2,844, and as PrintIT Reseller went to press, had plans to dress up as Santa to take part in the Wilmslow 10k. The firm has also hosted a ‘Red Breakfast’ club at its Stockport office, raising another £130 for the charity. 26 members of staff paid £5 to have their pick from a wide selection of breakfast options, including: sausage and bacon sandwiches and hash browns donated by Belles Sandwich Bar, fresh fruit from partner company Fruidel, a range of ‘Buddha bowl’ inspired yoghurt and granola, and fresh continental pastries. The fun initiative also saw each employee entered into a raffle, with the winner being drawn by ‘Santa’, who gave the lucky recipient a voucher for an extra paid day’s holiday to do their Christmas shopping. www.midshire.co.uk 10 We can buy your unused toners As a Managed Print Service provider, we understand how important it is to deliver the best value and performance to your customers.
