Midshire has partnered with the organisation to help fund its vital research and is planning a number of activities in the next few months. The event marked the latest phase of Commercial’s sustainability journey and inspired more than 400 delegates to take action within their own organisations. Commercial also launched a new initiative focused on reducing single-use plastic in the office supply chain through collaboration and innovation. The event itself was plastic-free, with exhibitors encouraged to avoid printed documents and giveaways in favour of assets that could be collected via a digital platform. www.commercial.co.uk A winning formula 27 teams lined up on the starting grid at this year’s Toshiba Karting Cup Challenge, which took place at the Daytona race track in Milton Keynes in July. Now in its fourth year, this has become a hotly contested event, with print and barcode dealers from all over the country taking part. Glasgow-based NCS drove off with this year’s champion’s cup, Managed Technology ran a close second and the third podium spot went to Key Office Solutions. We had all of the home nations represented at this event, with teams even flying in from Northern Ireland and we look forward to a similar turn out in 2019.” www.toshibatec.co.uk XBM drives growth with fleet acquisition XBM has secured £300,000 funding from Lombard Asset Finance to purchase an additional 20 new vehicles, including four vans and 16 new cars for employees. The vehicles will enable the company to accommodate its growing staff base which has increased from 15 to 45 full-time employees across its network of offices in Newcastle, Manchester and Birmingham over the last 18 months. It follows a period of rapid expansion for the firm, whose annual turnover doubled to £2.5 million this year and is projected to reach £5 million by 2019. In February this year, the company used £235,000 of funding from NatWest to open its fourth site in Birmingham which has already written £350k of business and plans are underway to open an office in London. Founded in 2008 by Justin English, XBM’s current clients range from sole traders to large listed companies, along with local councils and schools. English said: “We have not only expanded our network of offices nationally this year but also significantly grown the number of staff across these offices.
