In one personal achievement, by raffling a Formula 1 driver’s signed cap and various other activities, Xeretec employee Marta Gosson raised € 45,000 to support a bereaved family whose father passed away during the Isle of Man TT Race. Other charities to benefit from the team’s endeavours and donations from Xeretec, included Age Scotland, Alexander Devine Children's Hospice, Crohns and Colitis UK, Cantraybridge College, COPE Galway, Macmillan Cancer Support and WADE (Wokingham & District Association for the Elderly). Adam Gibbons, Xeretec’s Group Managing Director, said: “As a company with a growing nationwide footprint, we’re keen to support national and local charities. One of Xeretec’s core values is to share our success and give back to our local communities’ charitable causes. I applaud our team’s efforts and commitment to supporting causes this year, and their desire to have a positive impact on their communities.” www.xeretec.co.uk Wiles Greenworld announces rebrand London-based sustainable office supplies business Wiles Greenworld, acquired by Commercial in 2016, has rebranded as Commercial. The name change reflects the continued convergence of Commercial’s original office supplies business with that of Wiles Greenworld. Since the acquisition, the two operations have worked cohesively, sharing sustainability best practice and jointly tendering for contracts. Wiles Greenworld and Commercial both have a strong track record leading the sustainability agenda for the office supplies industry. This resonates with customers looking for ways to improve their own business processes to enhance sustainability. Wiles Greenworld’s managing director, Ian Ezzard, says the time is right to begin trading as one brand. “When the acquisition first happened, it was important to ensure staff, clients and suppliers felt comfortable with the change,” he explained. “Nearly 18 months on, it’s clear to everyone that Wiles Greenworld and Commercial have great synergy and shared values. We want to take the integration further and operating under the same name is the logical next step. These are exciting times, and it’s been great to see the team’s positive reaction to the new uniforms, vehicle liveries and signage. We really feel part of the Commercial family now.” www.commercial.co.uk Penketh Group acquires Currie Business Services Penketh Group has acquired one of the North West’s most established photocopier and office supplies businesses as part of its ambitious growth plans. The company has bought Wirral-based Currie Business Services and added its six employees to its own 80-strong team. Penketh Group has its own head office in Wirral along with its Manchester-based Worklife Showroom. The latest acquisition coincides with another successful year for the group with revenues rising to £12.5 million, up from last year’s £11.3 million. Managing Director Mark Penketh said: “Our two businesses have a very similar ethos and were a natural fit when the opportunity came along to acquire Currie. We had an existing photocopier division in our business but Currie’s moves us to another level, particularly in terms of engineering excellence.” www.penkethgroup.com OKI Europe brings regional businesses together as one entity To help further its vision of creating an agile, efficient and highly responsive operation, OKI Europe is bringing together its entire Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) sales operation (with the exception of Russia) under one umbrella. As a result, its current group of sales companies across EMEA, will be combined under one legal entity. For some time, OKI Europe has been moving towards a single, more united organisation structure with consistent back office processes and efficient and effective sales and marketing programmes including pan-EMEA initiatives such as product launches, marketing campaigns and dealer incentives. It believes that replacing multiple and diverse activities under different legal entities with a single, simplified structure will enable more agility and a stronger closer relationship both with the channel and end customers, backed by a larger organisation offering more stability and credibility than the current independent local companies. www.oki.com/uk/printing Shropshire firm expands with county contract Unique Copiers has landed a contract to provide estate agents in the county with copying supplies. The St George’s-based family firm will supply Belvoir sales and lettings property specialists in Grosvenor House, Central Park, Telford, with all their copying needs in a deal which has saved Belvoir 30% of costs on their previous contract. Adrian Casey, owner of Unique Copiers said: “People often do not realise there are savings to be made in copying contracts. We will be taking on more staff to ensure we can always maintain the level of quality that we promise our customers. This will happen over the coming months and will include engineers who are always nearby to fix any potential problems quickly and efficiently.” Simon Bell, Managing Director of Belvoir Telford, said moving to a local company was the main draw for him – and the cost saving was an unexpected benefit. www.uniquecopiers.co.uk Mark Penketh
