01732 759725 50 What do you most enjoy about your job? Helping the partners I’m responsible for grow their business, and the close relationships I’ve built with those contacts. To see them succeed and the opportunity to genuinely play a small part in that success, is a fabulous feeling. I feel I am a part of their team. I’ve also had the chance to travel to the Middle East, France, Italy, Portugal and the US. PaperCut also recruits incredibly well, so I’m working with some very impressive and genuinely kind-hearted people that inspire me every day. What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? Pick your battles. When you’re passionate, there are a million things you could try and fix, right? But how committed are you to the outcome of this issue you’re trying to solve? Are you willing to die on that hill, or could you have a bigger impact focusing your efforts on something else that’s more within your control? My internal coach at PaperCut taught me that, and it’s another reason why our culture is second to none. What would make your day job easier? If I was a superhero and I had the superpower to be in multiple places at the same time. Seriously, though, I currently work with five Authorised RISING STAR 60 seconds with… Abbie Jeffery, Strategic Partner Manager, PaperCut Software PRINT IT RESELLER MAGAZINE RISING STARS IN PRINT & ONLINE SINCE 2016 Abbie Jeffery When did you first join the print sector and what attracted you? Well, I have a shocking confession to make – print wasn’t my first choice of industry! It was PaperCut specifically that attracted me. I was approached for the role, and while at the time it wasn’t specifically what I’d specialised in for the past eight years or so, the culture, the people, the brand and the ethos reeled me in completely. So, I started in customer care and built myself back up to my speciality – account management – over the course of the next few years. The fact that PaperCut encourages you to be nothing except your true self and rewards you for that, keeps me here. It also helps that we’ve had a very clear mission from day one to focus on sustainability and a great end-user experience. That aligned really well with my values. Solution Centres across the globe. There’s never enough time to spend with them and our resellers. There’s an endless amount to learn, people to connect with, opportunities to unpick – I really wish I could be in more places at one given time! Which company do you most admire outside of our industry? Riverford Organic Farmers. It’s fully employee-owned and it’s changing the farming industry by advocating for better pay for farmers. The team is mission focused and is building an incredible business by delivering fresh organic food across the entire of the UK. It has a beautiful farm-totable restaurant in Devon, which I visit every year. I’ve had a weekly delivery from Riverford Organic Farmers for ten years now! What excites you most about the future? How much more I can push myself in the role and put myself in uncomfortable situations that help me to grow which, in turn, will benefit the accounts I care for every day and will benefit PaperCut. Any time I’ve had an event, a nerve‑wracking presentation, a difficult conversation, it’s helped me grow as a person. I’ve come out the other side, stronger than when I started. It’s an even better feeling if those actions benefit others. More of that! Early bird or night owl? Somewhere in the middle. I get FOMO if I go to sleep too early, but I love an early morning coffee in my garden! Favourite app, and why? Yuka. It helps disseminate what beauty products have a positive effect on your internal health! Any nasties, basically. One screen, two or more? Much to my techie husband’s disdain, one big screen with my laptop to the side. My shoulder pain probably doesn’t thank me for that, either! Favourite quote/motto? When you think something nice about someone, don’t keep it to yourself… let them know. Last film you watched? Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. How do you like to spend your spare time? Walking my dogs or cooking nutritious meals whilst pottering around the house! We get away in our campervan as much as we possibly can, too.
