PRINTITRESELLER.UK 43 VOX POP electronic waste and contribute to a truly circular economy – a key pillar of our ESG strategy. Sarah Kochli: We operate a full end‑to‑end lifecycle on all returned devices which includes WEEE management, parts reclaim (where applicable) and also a refurbishment programme (where applicable) to assist in our corporation’s circular economy/ environmental programmes. Refurbishment of second-hand devices is undertaken under a strict criteria within our own workshop facility of which devices are offered for resale to our end-users via direct sales. All refurbished devices are sold in conjunction with a service and sales warranty agreement. world‑class technology that lasts and working with Agilico we are making sure our technology can be reused in the most effective way. Nancy Powell: We’re at a pivotal moment with the recent launch of the HP Renew Programme, once rolled out it will span personal systems, print and Poly. It’s a holistic approach to circularity ensuring every piece of hardware in the HP portfolio has a pathway to a second life, whether that’s refurbished, remanufactured or responsibly recycled. In the print sector, especially within managed environments, this isn’t new territory. Many devices returned at end-of-contract still have up to 70% of their operational life remaining and often they don’t require significant refurbishment. The opportunity now is to scale those second-life options for consumers while maintaining the quality and reliability of new devices. The second-life market is already vibrant. What’s been missing, however, is consistency with the experience of firsttime purchases. We’re closing that gap by offering second-life devices with the same benefits as new ones – certified refurbishment with HP-authorised parts, full warranty cover, and the option of care packs. These standards are being delivered through partner-led offerings in the UK and EMEA as part of our official HP License Programme. Rowan Jeffreys-Hoar: Through our partnership with Agilico, we refurbish and resell used devices, including printers and MFDs, giving them a new lease of life. Our refurbishment process is meticulous, starting with a thorough inspection of over 30 key components, followed by sanitising hard drive data, replacing worn parts, and applying the latest software updates. Each device undergoes rigorous testing to ensure it meets the same standards of quality and reliability as a new product. The Agilico Zero range offers businesses a certified line of refurbished devices, providing a high performing, sustainable alternative to new machines. Each refurbished device prevents at least 500kg of CO2 emissions, achieved by extending its lifespan and avoiding the environmental impact of manufacturing new equipment. By extending the life of these lightly used machines, we significantly reduce and has been extended to hardware, with the Lexmark Equipment Collection Program, LECP. The latter ensures the responsible reuse and disposal of end-of-life printers. Lexmark has a goal of increasing the average PCR plastic in Lexmark designed laser devices to 50% by the end of this year. Currently, the average is above 40%. Through innovative processes developed by our engineers, Lexmark has qualified over 145 components to incorporate up to 100% PCR plastic. LECP is also the enabler of our Evergreen line of printers, which is a line of remanufactured printers. Partners and customers are welcome to return their end-of-life equipment; Lexmark does the shipping. With these return programmes, we contribute our share to the circular economy. In this context, it is worth mentioning that we are the exclusive print industry partner of EU-funded circular economy projects, CE-RISE and DiCiM, where we bring our circular economy expertise, such as remanufacturing, the digital product passport, reverse logistics and IoT, to the table. At the same time, we benefit from the latest findings that we can implement in our devices and solutions. Gillian Nuttall: We are constantly looking at ways we can improve and drive towards a circular and regenerative economy through partnerships, new programmes, our products and solutions. An excellent example of this is our collaboration with Agilico. At its national MFD refurbishment centre in Leicester Agilico is giving a new lease of life to our ex-showroom and low‑utilisation devices, extending their life for many more years. Agilico has been a partner for more than 50 years, so they know Konica Minolta products inside out. This means that when they refurbish one of our MFDs they do so with the knowledge and manufacturer support, so you can be sure it will last for many years to come. We are very proud to produce continued... Rowan Jeffreys-Hoar
