If I’m honest, it wasn’t the print industry per se that attracted me, more the opportunity to purse my chosen career! What do you most enjoy about your job? Problem-solving. Working through a problem, getting to the bottom of the issue and finding a solution is really satisfying. Although it’s a bit of a double-edged sword, I really enjoy the end result and the feeling I have sorted it, but sometimes the process itself isn’t so enjoyable! What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? I’m a bit of a worrier, so the best advice I was given and which I follow every day is to not stress too much, as everything will work out one way or another in the end. What would make your day job easier? If everything went smoothly with no hiccups along the way. But that isn’t really realistic. Which company do you most admire outside of our industry? I can’t think of any one company that I admire outside of our industry, there are a number of brands I like and am loyal to, but that’s because I like their products rather than admire the business’ ethos. When did you first join the print sector and what attracted you? I left school in 2022 and started working at Parallel part-time in customer service to earn a bit of money. I also went to college to study health and social care but decided it wasn’t for me. I’ve always wanted to be an accountant, and when an opening within the finance and customer service department came up at Parallel, it made sense for me RISING STAR PRINT IT RESELLER MAGAZINE RISING STARS Early bird or night owl? I’m a bit of both. Early bird on weekdays and a night owl on the weekends. Favourite app, and why? TikTok. There is so much content on there, it’s really easy to lose yourself in it. I find it entertaining and a great way to unwind after a busy day. One screen, two or more? I have two screens, but ideally, I’d love seven! I just need a desk that’s big enough to accommodate them all and I’d be happy! I do tend to spread out a bit, my colleague who sits next to me isn’t in the office every day and I tend to make use of their desk space too, on the days they come in I have to quickly clear the decks! Favourite quote/motto? It’s something my nan always said: “Spread love wherever you go.” I think it’s a great reminder to be kind. Last film you watched? Elf, I always love to get into the Christmas mood early (Ed: this interview was conducted at the end of October!) How do you like to spend your spare time? I’m really sociable and I love to be around people – my family, my boyfriend and my friends.
