I still use a notebook and pen. I actually enjoy taking notes manually rather than using my laptop or phone. I really do not like it when people use laptops in meetings to take down notes, I banned them from my sales meetings in a previous life. I am dyslexic, so actually writing something down really helps cement a comment or a thought in my mind. e My new cable organiser case I know... ridiculous... but a complete game changer for me! I laughed when a colleague of mine (Matt Mahoney) started using one, but then I noticed every time I got on a plane, I would reach into my bag and pull out a tangled mess of cables and still not find the correct one. Basic but brilliant! r DOMO Business Intelligence and Analytics Platform There are many BI platforms out there. At ProcessFlows, we were pioneers in this space; we worked with a company called Intuitive to produce BI platforms for specific applications we sold. However, when I arrived at Vasion, I was staggered at what can be achieved with a well-designed BI and Analytics Platform. The perspective it delivers q Zoom Or whichever application our partners want to use... It is old news now, but the advancements in the use of collaboration tools in the last three to five years have made us all so much more effective and efficient. Having a role that spans EMEA and working for a company with a head office in Utah, means that without the ability to connect over Zoom, I would spend my life on a plane! Now it can be overused, and I think we all learned a lot of lessons on how to use it correctly during the pandemic. It enabled us to continue in our roles, but I think we had all had enough and could not wait to meet face-to-face again. The balance of face-to-face meetings over remote meetings is being established; in-person meetings are still incredibly powerful and important. We must not forget that. us on our business is incredible, from forecasting, pipeline management, conversion from demonstrations to closed business. It is endless and obviously depends on a well-managed and used CRM package, but the insight it delivers is outstanding. The team that manages Domo within Vasion really cares about how it is used and wants it to be as beneficial as possible to the business. That really helps! t My phone Early in my career, I ineffectively sold a few unified communications systems, and we had a saying... work is NOT a location. I have always worked remotely; the flexibility a mobile phone delivers is just incredible. From access to messages, the ability to join remote meetings, information instantly available, the ability to use it for payment, an entertainment platform (particularly useful for travelling), we also use it as a form of authentication to access our offices. The uses are endless; where would we be without them? y LinkedIn I was an early adopter of LinkedIn. I really enjoy seeing how friends and past colleagues are developing their careers. It can be a bit like Facebook sometimes, and as soon as you switch on the ‘I am looking for a job’ mode, it becomes a bit tedious. However, once you have switched that off again and use it for gaining insight, reaching out to new and old connections, research, etc., it really is a powerful tool. https://www.vasion.com Tim Muckhart
