WHAT'S NEW 01732 759725 26 Epson has added four new compact desktop scanners to its line-up. The DSC330, DS-C490, ES-C320W and ES-C380W significantly reduce demands on desk space and allow users the versatility to choose the most suitable media path. Using a simple lever feature, the scanners can easily transition from a U-turn media path to a straight path delivering more flexible media handling to support a wider range of documents; from passports to long-form paper formats at speeds ranging from 30 – 40 ppm depending on model. The ES-C320W and ES-C380W models support wireless scanning, and the inclusion of Epson ScanWay with the ESC380W means users can use the product as a standalone solution, progressing scan and selecting workflows from the product’s touchscreen panel, removing the need for a PC. Users can scan to popular cloud-based services including OneDrive, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams using Epson Connect. All models include a range of image and text enhancement technologies including OCR processing, features to protect documents and to simplify destination or workflow selection. Epson places great weight on addressing sustainability concerns and has committed to using up to 30% recycled plastic content within these products – an incremental step towards its strategic goal of being underground resource-free by 2050. www.epson.co.uk Focus On: What’s New Additional features and functionality BIXOLON has updated its best-selling POS printer series to include additional features and functionality. The nextgeneration SRP-350V and SRP-350plusV 3-inch (80 mm) receipt printers have been re-engineered to offer sustainable printing options and allow the use of printing blue receipts; print speeds have been increased and are faster; and they use the latest connectivity technologies. Supporting standalone or vertical printing options, the SRP-350V range features a specialised paper exit to prevent paper jams, with an intuitive design making it easy to remove paper if or when a paper jam occurs. The printers also come with an LED display that provides user friendly functionality and support a paper saving feature that enables organisations to save up to 25% of paper per roll; across three compression levels; through a Unified Utility, which doesn’t require any software changes. Additionally, BIXOLON has made it easier for users to load paper efficiently into the printers, thanks to a simple drop-in paper loading functionality. www.bixolon.com Green MFPs Ricoh UK has introduced a new IM C range of A3 colour multifunction printers made from at least 50% postconsumer recycled materials. This new range of all-in-one office devices is the company’s most sustainable to date. Upgrades also include a 45% reduction in panel power usage, enhanced image quality, an updated processor which will double the speed of production and a 50% reduction in plastic packaging, resulting in nearly a 20% reduction in carbon footprint across the lifetime of the machine. The new devices also offer increased performance and security along with a reduction in energy usage, making them more cost-effective as well as more sustainable to operate. www.ricoh.co.uk Enhanced ThinPrint engine ThinPrint has introduced the latest version of its ThinPrint Engine solution, the company’s on-premise and private cloud print management software for remote and virtual desktop environments. In addition to being the first print management solution with V4 printer driver support, ThinPrint 13 makes it possible for ThinPrint Hubs to be managed in the Microsoft Management Console to replace expensive print servers. ThinPrint has also enhanced its Printer Self Service for self-guided printer mapping. And under the hood, ThinPrint optimises both speed and security. www.thinprint.com Compact desktop scanners Reduced environmental impact Kyocera has unveiled the TASKalfa Pro 15000c/B mono inkjet production printer, which it says is one of the most eco-friendly production printers on the market. The device comes carbon-neutral as standard and every page printed is reforested through the company’s myclimate and PrintReleaf programmes to further boost eco-credentials alongside its energy saving prowess and eco-friendly water based inks. The latest addition to the TASKalfa Pro family prints at speeds of up to 150 A4 ppm and is designed for transactional printing and mailing houses looking for high speed continuous printing without image quality deterioration. Kyocera’s proprietary inkjet technology and large print heads enable fast single pass printing, and the device plugs into a 13 amp socket and uses up to 70% less power than laser-based counterparts. In the UK Kyocera’s TASKalfa Pro customers can benefit from two climate protection initiatives in partnership with PrintReleaf and myclimate. Kyocera will plant one tree for every 8,333 sheets printed on an inkjet device, and carbon offset the production and transportation of the printer plus genuine consumables for its standard rated lifetime. www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.co.uk
