01732 759725 50 AND FINALLY Eugene Young, Country Director IRE/UK, DocuWare 60 seconds with… What’s currently having the greatest impact on your business? Peoples’ nervousness to invest in their business due to fears of the current world marketplace. Where do you see the next big opportunity? The hybrid working environment I feel is the future and DocuWare will help any business create a model that will help them get there. What would make your day job easier? Less travelling. A lot of people want to see us right now and this really could be done remotely, but I do think we have been able to meet the request to meet more than ever. What’s the best bit of business advice you’ve been given? Learn your product and the benefits that it will bring to your customers. This will allow you to offer the best to your customers and lead to a content life. If you had had a crystal ball, would you have done anything differently? Nothing. I feel we have a great opportunity in DocuWare and what we offer is second to none. Describe your most embarrassing moment. Apologising to a lamp post. Let me explain! I was walking downtown, and I saw this beautiful classic car. I just followed it with my head until I walked into this pole to which I said sorry in front of my friend. Which, of course, they then laughed and remind me of many times since. What was your first job? Soil sampling for my father’s business. I have many fond memories of this time as my brother and I would work together on this… and of course, we weren’t competitive at all as to who could do the most in one day. What would be your dream job? This is a difficult one to answer as I believe there are a lot of dream jobs out there, but I feel for me I am in my dream job. I get to offer a solution to many companies that really enhances their operations through the challenges of paperwork. Fine dining and good wine, or curry and a pint? For me, it would have to be fine dining and wine as I don’t drink beer. You just can’t beat a good red. How do you like to spend your spare time? I love to relax by listening to classical music. I find it a great way to just switch off. And when I'm not doing that, I like to ride classic motorbikes. Mainly Triumphs when the weather permits. Favourite holiday destination? To be honest, I don’t think I can pick one. I love France and Italy, but I seem to gravitate each year now to Greece. Money’s not an issue, what’s your perfect car… and where would you like to drive it? Mercedes SL gull wing 1955. I think it’s one of the most beautiful cars ever made. I would love to drive it along the south coast of France and down through Italy to Portofino. The winding road would make one of the most breath-taking drives for any beautiful car, but in the SL it would be amazing. Eugene Young
