According to IDC’s latest overview of the Western European office printer market, Sharp was also a top three vendor in terms of value growth, recording an 18% increase in turnover per unit. Peter Plested, Director of Information Systems at Sharp Europe, said: “We see these results as an endorsement of the refresh of our A3 range and the launch of our new A4 devices.” www.sharp.eu NAES improves security with XM SendSecure The National Artificial Eye Service (NAES) is piloting the use of XM SendSecure for the transfer of patient files to people inside and outside the organisation. The NAES, hosted within the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, provides a manufacturing and fitting service for the supply of ocular prostheses to people throughout England. With a database of over 48,000 patients, the NAES complies fully with all data protection legislation. Even so, the NAES IT team recognised that existing systems for communicating with external stakeholders could be improved. Encrypted email systems typically require that all users are on the same system or, in the case of nhs.net , on the same domain, which means that transmissions outside the NHS domain are not fully encrypted and are therefore potentially insecure. They also suffer from file size limitations. Paul Aspden, Technical ICT Lead at NAES, recognised that XM SendSecure provides a better way of communicating with anyone outside the NHS or anyone that does not have expensive encrypted systems as standard. He said: “Communication with patients, consultants and other stakeholders involves the transmission of sensitive personal data, which falls under the regulatory umbrella of the GDPR, ICO and the NHS Information Governance regulations. In order to be fully compliant, it’s important that file transfers are encrypted during transmission and at rest.” Using XM SendSecure for secure file transfers, alongside fax over IP and NHS Mail as part of an integrated end-to- end communications strategy, helps NAES meet the highest compliance requirements. As well as encrypting files at rest and in transit, it restricts access to intended recipients through the use of two-factor authentication, provides a full audit trail and supports file sizes of up to 5TB. www.xmedius.com ProcessFlows to sell UniPrint.net IT and services company ProcessFlows has expanded its print management portfolio with the addition of cloud print solution UniPrint Infinity from UniPrint.net.
