MANAGED.IT 31 SCANNERS Now with LAN interface Canon’s new imageFORMULA DR- G2 series scanners are the first production scanners to have both USB connectivity and an embedded LAN interface that removes the need for a dedicated PC or software application. Designed for the digitisation of documents in corporate mailrooms, scanning bureaux and other high volume environments (up to a maximum of 70,000 scans a day), DR-G2 scanners are faster (up to 280 images per minute in colour at 300 dpi) and quieter than previous models. They come with a 500-sheet document feeder able to scan batches of mixed paper sizes and thicknesses and can handle documents up to A1 in size (using the folio mode). A barcode and 2D code recognition feature gives users the ability to separate batches automatically, sorting them into multipage files using barcode information for naming/indexing. In addition to ISIS/TWAIN/WIA and Kofax VRS Drivers for integration with scanning applications, the DR-G2 series has an SDK that customers can use to create bespoke applications. The three models in the series are the DR-G2090, DR-G2110 and DR-G2140. In with the new Alaris S2040 www.managedITmag.co.uk Canon DR-G2140 Fujitsu ScanSnap iX1500 Lower entry point Alaris has expanded its award-winning S2000 Scanner line with the addition of the Alaris S2040 Scanner. With a list price of £576, the new 40 pages (80 images) per minute device delivers the embedded image processing power of the S2050 and S2070 models, but at a lower price point for customers who want a more affordable solution. The S2040 features the latest Alaris Perfect Page image enhancement technology for clean, crisp images and optimum performance when using machine data extraction (OCR/ICR/ Forms Recognition) for workflows such as patient or customer onboarding. It supports barcode reading and is bundled with Smart Touch Software, which eliminates multi-step scanning processes with one-touch simplicity. Users can configure up to 20 different functions, making it quick and easy to perform common tasks, such as scanning a document to a file location or cloud service. Other features include an 80-sheet automatic document feeder and compatibility with the Alaris Passport Accessory and the Integrated A4/Legal Size Flatbed Accessory. Fujitsu turns scanning on its head The latest model in Fujitsu’s ScanSnap range of personal document scanners turns the scanning process on its head. Instead of scanning a document and choosing what to do with it every time, the iX1500 lets users press a large colour-coded button on the 4.3-inch touchscreen to activate a pre- programmed scan, such as scanning a receipt into a spreadsheet or a particular folder. Through the provision of multiple licences, a number of users can share the same iX1500 and pre-programme their own particular tasks. In addition, the iX1500 can automatically name files, recognise different document types (e.g. photos, receipts, business cards) and send them to a preferred destination without the user having to adjust settings. Another useful innovation is ScanSnap Home, which combines a user’s favourite ScanSnap software functions into a single application, enabling them to organise, preview, tag, search and retrieve documents in just a few clicks. Featuring both Wi-Fi and Direct Connect modes, the iX1500 can handle documents up to A3 at speeds of up to 30 double-sided A4 colour sheets per minute. It has a list price of £509. www.scansnapit.com/iX1500
