STAEDTLER
celebrates 50 years
in the UK
Stationery brand STAEDTLER (UK)
Ltd is celebrating its first 50 years in
the UK with a year-long programme
of promotional and CSR activities.
The celebrations started on April 14
with a formal dinner for 25 employees
and their partners at Cardiff Castle.
All guests received a commemorative
20-page booklet tracing the company’s
50-year history in the UK.
Compiled by managing director
Duncan Savage and non-executive
director John Evans, the booklet takes
a decade-by-decade look at significant
events in the company’s history leading
to its present position as the ‘UK’s
fastest growing writing instruments
brand’, according to GfK.
Managing director Duncan Savage
said: “One of our proudest claims is
that a whole generation has learnt to
write using a STAEDTLER Noris school
pencil, with merely the sight of this
iconic black and yellow striped pencil
enough to transport people straight
back to their school days.”
Other initiatives planned as part
of the celebrations include: monthly
CSR activities with a ‘50’ theme
run in association with the charity
GroundworkWales; a dedicated
social media campaign; and product
promotions including a monthly prize
draw for £50 stationery bundles.
STAEDTLER marketing manager
Rachel Woolley said: “Our 50th
birthday in the UK coincides
with record sales, so it’s a double
celebration for us. Although the
actual anniversary of the founding
of STAEDTLER UK falls in April, we
have decided to spread our themed
celebrations over the whole year.”

Premier Paper puts its customers to work
Premier Paper and more than 30 of its customers
and staff recently helpedWoodland Trust Scotland
plant more than 800 trees at NorthWood, a 35
hectare woodland just outside Livingston. Each
two-foot sapling was planted, staked and fitted
with a tree guard to protect it from deer and
rabbits.
Premier customers also had the opportunity to
take part in a guided walk of the NorthWood forest
where they learnt more about the UK native species
they had planted, including silver and downy birch,
elder, hazel, hawthorn and rowan.
David Jones, Premier Paper Group marketing
director, said: “We had a great tree planting day at NorthWood. Thanks to the hard
work and enthusiasm of Premier Paper customers and staff we managed to exceed
Woodland Trust’s target number of trees for the day.”
Over the last 12 months, customers participating in Premier’s Carbon Capture
scheme have helped to plant over 55,000 trees with theWoodland Trust and
capture 11,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
