Lexmark cuts print costs at Dixons

Published May 28, 2008 at 9:14 pm · Filed under Printer / Copier

Consumer electronics retailer Dixons Store Group International (DSGi) has saved an estimated four million pages, 2,500 toner cartridges and 93 tonnes of CO2 since implementing a Lexmark managed print service for 5,000 printers and MFPs in July 2006.

As part of the four-year MPS contract, which is expected to save $1 million a year in running costs, Lexmark has installed monochrome and colour laser printers and multifunction printers (MFPs) at DSGi’s headquarters, retail stores and distribution centres.

As well as rationalising DSGi’s printer/MFP fleet and standardising on Lexmark devices, Lexmark is responsible for asset management, consumables management, proactive diagnosis and resolution and lifecycle management.

In addition, it is encouraging DSGi to make better use of devices, for example by using duplex (double-sided) printing to reduce paper consumption and by scanning paper to streamline business processes.

Further savings come from using in-house devices to print material that would once have been outsourced. For example, colour laser printers are being used at DSGi’s PC World store to print point of sale material in-house and on demand.
