IP telephony used by one in two enterprises
IP telephony is now used by more than half of the UK’s largest businesses. A survey conducted jointly by Extreme Networks and Data Integration found that 58.8% of businesses with 500+ employees now run IP telephony on their LAN. An additional 27.2% of UK businesses expect to implement VoIP solutions in the next three years.
The take-up of video is less advanced and there are signs that many business people are yet to be persuaded of its benefits. Although just under one third (32.1%) of large businesses already run IP video technologies over the network, 43.2% of the survey respondents said that they failed to see any clear benefits in the technology.
