iPhone seduces UK gadget lovers

As Apple and O2 launch the iPhone in the UK, new research shows that the British are not just great consumers of gadgets: we are great hoarders of them, too. A survey of 1,000 adults conducted by ICM for first direct found that on average each UK household has 16 gadgets, amounting to 400 million nationally. In order of popularity, these include:
Mobile phones (approx. 70 million units*)
Televisions (60 million or 2.5 per household)
DVD players/recorders (40 million)
Satellite/freeview/cable receivers (30 million)
Analogue radios (29 million)
Stereo systems with CD (29 million)
iPods/MP3 players (25 million)
Computers with broadband (25 million)
Digital cameras (23 million)
Video recorders (22 million)
Computers w/o broadband (19 million)
Games consoles (19 million)
Digital radios (13 million)
Video cameras (10 million)
Blackberrys and digital assistants (4 million)
Data/video projectors (3 million)
* All figures rounded up or down to nearest million.
